Empowering artists, building careers, and shaping the future of entertainment since 1998
When the film and television industry was expanding and taking a bigger and better shape in West Bengal, a group of eminent film personalities came forward and decided to form an association with the basic aim to unite all film and television actors of West Bengal under one roof. The objective was to protect their interests, to foster goodwill and fellowship, and to build a better working environment in the industry they belong to.
The association was named WEST BENGAL MOTION PICTURES ARTISTS' FORUM and was formed on 12th August, 1998 and later registered under the Indian Trade Union Act 1926 (Regd No 22893)
Since then the Forum has not only confined its activities within the industry but also spread its wings to help the society at times of distress. Founding President (1998)
"When we gathered on that historic day of 12th March 1998, we had a vision - a vision to unite all film and television actors of West Bengal under one roof. We recognized that the entertainment industry was expanding rapidly, and our artists needed a unified platform to protect their rights, promote their welfare, and advance their professional interests.
Today, as I look back at our journey, I am filled with immense pride and satisfaction. What started as a small group of dedicated individuals has grown into one of India's most prestigious entertainment industry associations. Our organization has not only protected the rights of our members but has also contributed significantly to the social and cultural fabric of West Bengal.
I am particularly proud of our commitment to social welfare. Over the years, we have organized numerous relief programs, raised funds for various causes, and extended our support to those in need. From the Malda and Murshidabad relief fund to the Kargil War victims support, from Gujarat earthquake relief to Tsunami relief - our members have always stepped forward to serve society.
Our organization has also been instrumental in promoting cultural activities and preserving the rich heritage of Bengali cinema. Through various cultural programs, workshops, and events, we have provided a platform for emerging talents and celebrated the achievements of our veteran artists.
As we move forward, I urge all members to continue upholding the values and principles that guided us from the beginning. Let us work together to make our organization even stronger and more effective in serving the interests of our members and contributing to the growth of the entertainment industry.
May our organization continue to flourish and serve as a beacon of hope and support for all artists in West Bengal."
